Steve McCourt is a respected and seasoned geological scientist and academic who immigrated to South Africa after completion of a PhD at the University of Exeter (UK) in 1975. Steve was a field geologist with the erstwhile Geological Survey of South Africa prior to moving into academia in 1983. He has held appointments at the University of Pretoria (1983 to 1995), as HOD at the University of Durban Westville (1995-2004) and Head of School at UKZN (2006-2011)Steve served as Honorary Scientific Editor of the South African Journal of Geology (1995-1998) and currently (2015 to present) serves as Managing Editor.
