Dr. Joel Botai is a chief scientist-applications research at the South African Weather Service with over 20 years of working experience. Dr. Botai was awarded PhD (Meteorology) by University of Pretoria, MSc (Astrophysics) by Rhodes University, MSc (Eng.) by Chalmers University, (Sweden) and BSc Eds. (Hons) by Moi University (Kenya). Dr. Botai an extra-ordinary lecturer at the University of Pretoria, an honorary research fellow at the school of Agriculture earth and environmental sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal and an Adjunct Professor, Department of Information Technology, Central University of Free State and has (co-)supervised over 20 PhD and MSc students. Dr Botai currently serves as a Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate and Land Management (SASSCAL).
