Dr Tibane is a Metamorphic Petrology lecturer, with a PhD in Geology from University of Pretoria in collaboration with the Martin-Luther University, Halle-Saale, Germany, funded by Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and Thuthuka of National Research Foundation (NRF). Dr. TIBANE is a full member of the Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA). He has 2 years full-time experience in mining industry and more than 10 years academic experience. Dr. TIBANE has supervised research projects up to MSc level in Geology and lectured undergraduate and postgraduate Geology courses.

- Metamorphic effects of the intrusive bodies on coal deposits
- Palaeomagnetism of the dykes and sills of the Karoo basin
- Mining wastes and the geochemistry of heavy metals
- Medical Geology and ecological risks of toxic trace elements
- Climate change, and carbon capture and storage
