Prof Lembe Samukelo Magwaza

Associate Professor and Academic Leader of Teaching and Learning

Prof Lembe Magwaza Holds a PhD in Postharvest Biology and Technology of Horticultural Crops with over 20 years of experience in research and teaching. He is the current Academic Leader of Teaching and Learning in the School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Science. Prof Magwaza’s research interests focus on developing strategies to maximise the shelf life of different crops, including characterisation and improving the quality of food products from farm to fork. His research group is concerned with developing non-destructive technologies for measuring and monitoring fruit maturity, ripening physiology and quality. He has supervised 11 doctoral and 24 Master’s students and published over 130 peer-reviewed journal articles and 23 conference proceedings.
