Prof Julia Sibiya is the Acting Dean and Head of School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Sciences. She is also the cluster academic leader for the Production Sciences. Prof Sibiya is an Associate Professor in Plant Breeding and has over 30 years’ experience in teaching and research. Her research covers both conventional and molecular breeding tools for various traits, mainly disease resistance, drought tolerance and grain quality in various crops, particularly maize and sorghum. To date, she has co-authored over 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and graduated 47 MSc and 36 PhD students from various African countries.
