Edilegnaw Wale Zegeye is Honorary Professor of Agricultural Economics, School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Sciences..

His research focus areas are the economics of water use in smallholder agriculture, natural resources economics / agro-biodiversity economics, agricultural development economics/the economics of smallholder agriculture, cost benefit analysis of development projects/programs/policies, and impact assessment/technology adoption.

In 2006, his PhD thesis won an award “Prize of Friends of ZEF” selected as the best doctoral thesis of the years 2003 and 2004, Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn. He began his career at Alemaya University in Ethiopia where he served for six years (1994-5; 1997-2000 and 2004) in various capacities. He has also been a consultant to IFPRI and ILRI, among others.
